Homo Faber Guide is a signature project developed by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, an international non-profit organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, which was set up in 2016 thanks to the intuition of Franco Cologni and Johann Rupert. The Michelangelo Foundation’s mission is to celebrate and preserve master craftsmanship, and for this reason it has created a European map of the most significant representatives in this field, with the aim of connecting all its protagonists: artisans, designers, gallery owners, art curators, collectors and enthusiasts of high-quality handmade pieces.

David Sandu began to discover the secrets of jewellery making at the age of 13, under the guidance of the Romanian sculptor and jeweller Vlad Gherghiceanu. Looking back, the call to practise this craft arrived organically. “It was never a rational choice. I perceived it as a path I could walk on for a long time and it turned out to be true,” he says. The learning process was not an easy one, but everything that happened later proved him right. He has participated in international projects and exhibitions and has won significant awards. In 2010, David founded the Assamblage School of Contemporary Jewellery, playing a major role in the formation of a new generation of jewellers and the rebirth of this profession in 21st century Romania.
